My name is Vivek Bheeroo. I am currently pursuing a PhD degree at Texas A&M University within the Civil Engineering program, with emphasis in Coastal & Ocean Engineering.
Throughout my academic trajectory so far, I have gained a strong interest in pursuing research in topics related to ocean wave hydrodynamics, turbulent coherent structures and marine pollutant transport.
My higher education journey started at Purdue University, where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with a focus in Hydraulics & Hydrology. During my senior year, I took a course in Coastal Engineering, which propelled me towards wanting to know more about this field.
Following Purdue, I joined Oregon State University, where I got my first taste of research in topics related to Coastal/Ocean Engineering. I performed numerous laboratory and numerical experiments related to water wave mechanics. OSU was the perfect environment to gather a strong foundation in several topics surrounding Coastal Engineering.
I continued my journey at the University of New Hampshire, where my research focused on developing tools to perform measurements of a dynamic free surface. This research provided an excellent platform towards gaining additional experience with laboratory techniques and practices.
I am from Mauritius, a tropical island located in the south western quadrant of the Indian Ocean. Early exposure to the beautiful lagoons that surround the island has inevitably triggered a curiosity for understanding the physics driving coastal processes.
